FitSteps Exercise Program

FitSteps program was initially designed to target patients who were cancer survivors or patients undergoing cancer treatment and the program has been extremely successful in improving the life span and quality of life of the patients involved in the exercise program.

Since the implementation of the program, numerous studies have come out that highlight the benefits of exercise in the treatment of a number of medical conditions. FitSteps would like to expand the program to benefit patients who also suffer with:

Diabetes          High Blood Pressure          Heart Disease          Arthritis          Chronic Fatigue

Obesity           Lung Disease                    Memory Loss

Even if you do not currently have any health problems, exercise is very important for preventative measures and maintenance of your good health.

To enroll in the FitSteps Program, you must have a simple referral from your current physician that states you can participate in a “Moderate Exercise Program”. Once you obtain your doctor’s permission, you may come to the BSBC Family Life Center on Tuesday or Thursday mornings (9-11) to enroll in the program. An exercise routine will be established based on your current health status and the goal in which you wish to reach.

Patients are encouraged to exercise at least three times a week.

The program is offered at no cost to the patient.

Please contact the Cancer Foundation for Life (CFFL)  at 903-561-0149 for information on enrolling in the FitSteps program.

Power of Prayer

Prayer is a very vital and important part of our church and our ministry to each other, our families, our community and beyond.  We count it as a privilege to be given the opportunity to pray for others.

There are different prayer options that we encourage anyone with a prayer request to use:

Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting:  We have a written prayer list that divides our requests into the following categories:  Praises, Spiritual Concerns, Church Concerns, Health Concerns, Military Concerns, Foreign Concerns, Long Term Concerns, Nursing Home Residents and Shut-ins, and other concerns.  Each week, we update and add to the list.  It is a blessing to gather with others to bow before the Lord and bring prayer requests to Him.  Prayer requests may be added by contacting the church office.  Everyone is encouraged to come join in this very special time of prayer.

Ladies Prayer Ministry:  Meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month.  This very special group of ladies (anyone is welcome to join them) will pray for requests that have been submitted to this ministry.  Prayer Request Cards are available in the pew rack, foyer areas, and in most Sunday School rooms.  The ladies will pray and send cards of encouragement if needed.  It is a wonderful ministry.

Prayer Chain Ministry:  this ministry is used in cases of emergency or urgent prayer requests.  Requests can be made by calling the church office or by contacting our Prayer Chain Coordinator, Marie Grosdidier at 903-894-8363.  She will in turn, contact others who will start the "prayer chain' either by phone call or email.
