God Always Comes Through
It is a beautiful children’s story with a powerful meaning and application. The last few pages read as follows… “I could not, would not, on a boat. I will not, will not with a goat. I will not eat them in the rain. I will not eat them on a train. Not in the dark! Not in a tree! Not in a car! You let me be! I do not like them in a box. I do not like them with a fox. I will not eat them in a house. I will not eat them with a mouse. I do not like them here or there. I do not like them anywhere. I do not like green eggs and ham!” Sam then responds, “Try them! Try them! And you may.” And as the story goes on… "Say. I do like green eggs and ham! I do! I like them, Sam-I-am! I do so like green eggs and ham! Thank you! Thank you, Sam-I-am!”
Most of us can relate in some way to “Green Eggs and Ham.” After the “fact”…or event, or change, or process…we usually find ourselves better off than we were before. This is true in every area of life. As we experience life, we grow. We learn. We change. Some we enjoy! And some, we resist! But the promises of God never change. When He says, “I will never leave you…” He means it! When He says, “Trust in me…” He means it! When He says, “He loves you…” He means it! During those difficult times of transition, we sometimes lose sight of His love. During those times, we sometimes doubt and worry.
But in the end, and yes, sometimes not until after the fact, we can look back and see the Hand of God at work. If we are willing, (and we must be willing!) to allow God to move in our lives, we will be better off than before. As He guides, leads, and directs we must simply trust Him. When we trust in Him, He helps! And in the end…God always comes through!
